I’m a big fan of cheated eggs. They are one of the few modern breakfast foods that can be easily made healthy! Prepared eggs are perfect for family outings, picnics and backyard parties because almost everybody loves them. It’s really easy to throw with them.

I wanted to try a little different from the same old thing, so I made these Japanese style fake eggs. They’re just as simple and delicious as the original, but with a little twist!

How to make Japanese devil eggs

Coconut aminos (or tamari), green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and rice wine vinegar give these eggs an Asian twist. But I think the addition of Panko bread crumbs and wasabi really makes them Japanese! If you are looking for something different without using lots of utensils and ingredients, these are a great choice!

Where to find healthy eggs?

Eggs can be a healthy food because they contain protein and healthy fats. But what we often find in grocery stores is not the best choice. Even if their label is cage-free, most of these chickens are trapped in a dirty building with no access to natural fodder. They also fed GMO corn and soy feed, which is not ideal.

The best choice for finding a local farmer. Ask them to let you see where the chickens live. If they don’t let you see the field, you probably don’t want to buy eggs from them.

You can also find certified organic and human eggs at your local grocery or natural food store.

Tips for Fresh Eggs

If you’ve read my book, you’ll know that I use eggs for breakfast (of course !!) as well as for fast healthy protein at lunch or dinner. Hard boiling is a great way to make them portable snacks!

If you are having trouble peeling your fresh hard boiled eggs, try these tips:

  • Instead of boiling eggs, steam them for 15 minutes and then put them in cold water.
  • Once the eggs are cool enough to touch, break the egg shells and return them to the cold water. This can help loosen the membrane.
  • If you need to boil eggs, add a cup of vinegar to the water.

Or you can lay a dozen eggs for a week or two before making a hard-boiled egg. Old eggs hatch very easily (and eggs last a long time).

How to find healthy fruit

After eggs, mayonnaise is the next biggest ingredient in this recipe, so getting good quality is a must! I like avocado oil or homemade mayo. It contains coconut and olive oil for a healthy, nutritious fat-filled spice.

Japanese devil egg recipe

A tasty twist on traditional deviant eggs with coconut amino, rice wine vinegar, sesame seeds, and green onions. If you dare, add Wasby!

Instructions

  • Peel 12 hard boiled eggs and slice them lengthwise.

  • Remove the yolks and place them in the food processor.

  • Add mayo, coconut amino, wasabi, if used, and vinegar.

  • Plus until smooth.

  • Add green onions, bread crumbs and lentils and mix well.

  • Spoon the mixture back into the egg whites.

  • Put sesame seeds in dry itch on medium heat. When slightly brown and fragrant, look carefully and remove.

  • Sprinkle the eggs with sesame seeds, and if desired, sprinkle more chopped green onions before serving.

Note

I find it easiest to fill an egg with a yolk mixture using a piping bag or zip top bag. It’s less dirty and goes away very quickly.
