Healthy Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

The sweet potato flavor is loved by (some people) as a classic holiday recipe. To be honest, I’m a more simple baked sweet potato type girl, but since some of our expansionist families prefer the above type of marshmallow, I decided to come up with a healthier recipe.

Homemade Sweet Potato Casserole

To make sweet potato casserole part of sweet potatoes, you need ripe sweet potatoes. If I’m making casseroles for the lamb, I like to fry them early so I don’t have to do so much on a busy cooking day.

You can boil them if you like, but I like the taste deeper than frying.

Sweet Potato Most of the casserole recipes contain sugar in sweet potato. I’m not taking this advice! Sweet potatoes are already sweet enough, so there’s no need to add even more sugar! Some recipes also include eggs and milk, but since they don’t really change the taste or texture and are allergic to some, I skip them.

Important Note: If you make a sweet potato part ahead of time, make sure you warm it up before applying the topping.

Not Marshmallow or Marshmallow?

Sweet potato casseroles are usually topped with a sweet treat such as sweetmeat or sterdale. I make my own marshmallows, and I’ve noticed that if I reduce the amount of gelatin in the prescription, I can do a marshmallow flop topping. (Mommy Hack: “Marshmallow” topping also makes a great cake icing on coconut flour cake for kids birthdays!)

Another option is to apply egg whites and Swiss meringue with honey. I heat it and throw it on a double boiler until it is thick and fast. If you really feel fancy, you can also put a piping bag and pipe beautifully designed meringue on top of the sweet potato. As a final step, grind the sender for a few minutes before lightly browning.

Important Note: Since cannabis is only in the oven for a few minutes, it’s important to make sure the sweet potatoes are already nice and warm.

Sweet potato casserole recipe

Sweet potato casserole with completely optional honey and egg white “marshmallow” is a healthy meal.

“Marshmallow” topping (optional)


  • In a 425 ° F oven, cook the sweet potatoes for about 40-50 minutes or until soft.

  • A little cold

  • Peel and mash with butter or coconut oil, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla.

  • Spread evenly in a 9×13 baking dish.

For “Marshmallow” topping (optional)

  • In a double boiler or small pan with water and in a glass bowl, whisk the egg whites with a hand blender until fluffy.

  • Add honey to the egg whites and place a double boiler on the stove, keeping the heat medium.

  • Using a hand mixer or whisk, mix the egg white and the honey mixture until it thickens and warms up.

  • Spread the topping over the sweet potatoes and place in the oven and broil or brown for a minute or two.


You can make sweet potatoes part of this recipe ahead of time and reheat it while topping in the open.

Every time I’ve made this sweet potato casserole for family and friends, it’s a huge success. It’s still high in starch so it shouldn’t be eaten every day, but it’s definitely a healthier alternative to the traditional version!
