Most nights, I cook a simple pan in my food Health Mama Cookbook (Grab a copy here) Because these are our family favorites and I know they’re fast, easy and delicious.
With over 200 recipes to choose from, we sometimes use the same foods over and over again at dinner times and I find that I’m experimenting less because we’re locked in to our liking. ۔
When cooking for children
Thanks to the Kids Cook Real Food Course, my kids have become very helpful in the kitchen and are even interested in making their own recipes. My two older children created this recipe and cooked it several times to make it perfect. They adjusted the ingredients each time until they recovered. The result was a thick and sweet honey garlic chicken that uses budget chicken thighs.
It has a slightly crisp outer coating and has a great balance of sweet and savory. I recommend serving this side with a simple salad or steamed vegetables for a quick meal option!
What a love of children
They have to make their own recipe and it’s delicious! If your kids aren’t helping in the kitchen, I would definitely encourage them to help and even let them cook for themselves. They feel proud to cook for themselves, and cooking is a useful skill that will serve them for a lifetime.
In our home, even young children learn to use knives safely from an early age and are actually helpful (not just “helpful”) from the age of 3.
My favorite part
I have a feeling for the children to make a prescription myself. As a bonus, I get even one night off from cooking once a week or when they cook; no complaints here!
Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs
To make this recipe, we first put the meat in a little cassava flour. This helps the sauce to thicken as it matures. We put the chicken in a baking dish, mix the sauce ingredients together, put the sauce on the chicken, and let it cook for a while.
We uncover the baking dish for the final 20 minutes or so to catch the chicken and caramelize the sauce a bit.
A note about baking dishes:
I’ve always used a glass baking dish to cook chicken, but lately I’ve found some cooks that I really like. It’s called Caraway. It is ceramic coated and this oven is safe. It makes the meat brown without sticking. The smooth non-toxic finish is so amazing that even omelettes slip out. And it comes in such beautiful colors! I highly recommend it.
